GINGER

COSTA-JACKSON

Operatic Mezzo-Soprano

Ginger Costa-Jackson is one of the most exciting and versatile artists of her generation. She has regularly performed at the world’s leading opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opéra National de Paris, De Munt / La Monnaie, and the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The mezzo's upcoming performances include the title role of Carmen for MasterVoices in New York, Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and the English National Opera, Charlotte in Werther for Grange Park, and Bradamante in Alcina with Seattle Opera.

Bizet's Carmen

OPERAWIRE

This artist’s Carmen knows her worth and she will defy the cultural norms of her time for the right to live her life her own way....Her downward tones were exquisite and they became multicolored jewels as they spun out over the audience.

THE GUARDIAN

But everything revolves around Carmen. Ginger Costa-Jackson, another ENO debutant, is magnetic. She sings in a strong, wine-dark mezzo-soprano and knows how to hold the stage through stillness.

BROADWAY WORLD

Her voice, sultry looks, and sensuous flamenco dancing are perfect for the role. She even manages castanets in perfect rhythm without missing a step.

THE NEW YORK TIMES

As Carmen came face to face with a grim recognition of her unalterable fate, she had full command of a glowering power, easily slicing through some of Bizet's most dramatic scoring.

"A genuine triple threat, she’s an astoundingly accomplished vocalist and an extraordinary stage actress. And if that’s not enough, she can also dance with the greatest of ease." — Terry Ponick, CDN
